Privacy Policy

Version 1.1 · Last updated August 25, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the Bonk desktop application (the “App”) and the bonkmusic.app website (the “Site”), how we use it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible and to be clear about it.

The short version. Your music library stays on your device — we don’t upload it. On the website we store what you send through waitlist and contact forms. The App does not ship third-party product analytics (such as Mixpanel). Optional account sign-in uses our auth provider if enabled.

1. Who we are

Bonk (“we”, “us”) provides the App and the Site. For privacy questions you can reach us at privacy@bonkmusic.app or via our Discord.

2. Information we collect

Information you provide

  • Waitlist submissions: your email address, and optionally your name, role (DJ, producer, or other), and any notes you include.
  • Contact submissions: your name, email address, topic, and message.
  • Community: if you join Discord, Discord’s own privacy terms apply to that service.

Account information (if you sign in)

If account sign-in is enabled in the App, our authentication provider processes your email address and authentication details to create and secure your account.

Data on your device

The App reads and edits your music files, metadata, playlists, and supported DJ library databases locally on your device. This content is not uploaded to us as part of normal operation. The App and Site may use local storage to remember preferences and that you accepted the current Terms.

Site logs

Standard server logs for the Site (for example, IP address and request metadata) may be processed by our hosting provider to operate and secure the Service.

3. Analytics and telemetry

The desktop App does not currently send product usage events to third-party analytics providers (including Mixpanel). If we add optional analytics later, we will update this policy and give you a clear in-app choice before collecting usage telemetry.

4. How we use information

  • To operate, maintain, and improve the App and Site;
  • To respond to waitlist and contact submissions and send related updates;
  • To secure the Service, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.

5. Service providers

We rely on a small set of providers that process data on our behalf:

  • Cloudflare — hosting for the Site and Worker API, and the D1 database that stores waitlist and contact submissions.
  • Supabase — authentication, if account sign-in is enabled.
  • Resend — sending notification emails to our team when you submit a form (used only if configured).
  • Discord — community space, and optional internal notifications when you submit a form (if configured).

These providers may process your information only as needed to provide their services to us.

6. Cookies and local storage

The Site does not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use local storage on your device for essential functionality — for example, remembering preferences and Terms acceptance. Third-party providers listed above may set their own cookies or identifiers as described in their policies.

7. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers listed above, when required by law or valid legal process, to protect the rights and safety of our users and the Service, or in connection with a business transfer (such as a merger or acquisition), subject to this policy.

8. Data retention

We keep waitlist and contact submissions for as long as needed to respond to you and to operate the Service, then delete or anonymize them when no longer required. You can ask us to delete your information as described below.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your own backups of your music library and databases.

10. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, or to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@bonkmusic.app, or ask us to stop sending you updates.

11. International transfers

Our providers may process and store data in countries other than yours. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

12. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date and version above, and for material changes we may provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

14. Contact
